POWERS AND FUNCTIONS OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR

• Administration and implementation of provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.
• Administration and implementation of Provisions of Indian Electricity Rules,1956 now Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply ) Regulations, 2023 for ensuring safety in the electrical installations and maintenance thereof.
• Inspection, Scrutiny and approval of electrical installation of Generating Stations, Transmission lines and Sub-stations of Suppliers, Licensees and Consumers (both Govt. & Private), Diesel Generating Sets for safety matters.
• Investigation of fatal, non-fatal electrical accident cases of human beings and animals.
• Examinations and issuance of NOC for electrical clearance of residential, commercial and industrial building before construction as per provisions of Tripura Building Rules, 2017 including amendments thereof.
• Examinations and issuance of Electrical clearance related to industrial works through Ease of Doing Business portal www.swaagat.tripura.gov.in as per relevant rules.
• Issuance of Electrical soundness certificate regarding internal electrification, generators etc of Nursing Home, Pathology and Diagnostics centre in the state of Tripura as per provisions of CEA safety rules.
• Issuance of electrical clearance certificate for electrification works at shopping malls, Hotels and Theatre Halls after conducting examinations and testing at the respective places within the state of Tripura as per provisions of CEA safety rules.
• Inspecting of various Energy Conservation Activities in Tripura as per Energy Conservation Act, 2001 including amendment thereof.
• Conducting examinations & issuance of License to Electrical Contractors twice in a year, Certificate of Competency to Supervising Workman and Certificate of competency to Operative Electrical Workman to the eligible candidates every year and renewal thereof.
